Dielectric constant of flexible plate:
As FPC materials are divided into two types, Polyimide and Polyester, we will separate them here.
1. Polyester (Polyester)
Polyester is made of polyethylene terephthalate(SHORT for PET). The thickness range of flexible plate is generally 25μm(1mil) ~ 125μm(5mil). It has the same excellent flexibility and electrical properties as Polyimide.
However, its dimensional stability during the manufacturing process is slightly less than that of Polyimide. In addition, it has poor tear resistance and is more sensitive to welding temperature. Its dielectric constant is 3.4.
2. Polyimide
Polyimide (PI for short) is the most commonly used thermal curing insulating material in flexible circuit machining. The thickness range of materials is generally 12.5μm(0.5mil) and 125μm(5mil). It is divided into adhesive and non-adhesive. The permittivity of adhesive is 3.5, and that of non-adhesive is 3.3.
